Principal's Message

Welcome to Crater Academy of Health and Public Service. CAHPS is dedicated to providing the very best education to our students in School District 6. Our outstanding staff works hard to create a learning environment for our students that is positive, challenging, and supportive.

CAHPS ensures that all students are known well by multiple adults within the school and academic structures are established to build strong teacher-student connections. Every Freshmen takes a Freshmen Focus class the first term in high school that is centered on the important changes they will be facing while transitioning into high school. Freshmen take TIESS, Team Integrated English and Social Science their ninth and tenth grade years and will have the same teacher for both years.

Every student in CAHPS completes a 12-week internship in a wide variety of placements including medical and veterinary offices, Fire District 3, Fish and Wildlife, local businesses, District 6 schools, YMCA and local fabrication shops etc. Be The Change CAHPStone Project is designed to be an intensive and extensive hands-on service-learning experience that merges the natural interests and passions of our seniors with the broader community. Every senior completes this project for a graduation requirement. CAHPS students have access to 38 college classes (155 credits) taught by Cartar teachers in our AP and dual credit classes.

I am confident that your child will thrive at Crater Academy of Health and Public service. We promise to keep students at the forefront of all decisions we make as a school. We look forward to continuing to work with parents, our community partners, and students on ways we can improve our programs and culture.

Thank you for your continued support of CAHPS and we look forward to another successful year.

Best Regards.
